Lucien Hubbard (22 Aralık 1888 - 31 Aralık 1971) Amerikalı film yapımcısı ve senarist.

Biyografi

Lucien Hubbard, 1927 yapımı Wings [en] filmiyle En İyi Film dalında verilen ilk Akademi Ödülü’nü kazanan Amerikalı yapımcı ve senaristti. Kariyeri boyunca toplam doksan iki filmde yapımcı ve yazar olarak görev almıştı.

Hubbard, Los Angeles’a gelmeden önce The New York Times gazetesinde gece editörü olarak çalışmıştı. Bu dönemde boş zamanlarında beş senaryo yazmış ve bunlardan herhangi birini satabilmek amacıyla Hollywood’a gitmeye karar vermişti. Üç senaryosunu satmayı başarmış ve 1923 yılında sinema kariyerine başlamıştı.

1925 yapımı The Vanishing American filminin uyarlamasında yer almıştı. Bu film, Amerikan yerlilerini olumlu bir biçimde tasvir eden ilk yapımlardan biri olarak değerlendirilmişti. Hubbard, bu çalışması nedeniyle Cherokee Ulusu tarafından ödüllendirilmişti.

1927 yılında yapımcılığını üstlendiği Wings, En İyi Film dalında Akademi Ödülü kazanan ilk film olmuştu. Bu başarı, aynı zamanda yönetmen William A. Wellman’ın büyük stüdyo yapımlarına geçişinde önemli rol oynamıştı.

Hubbard, kariyeri boyunca birçok yeteneği keşfetmiş ve genç yazar ile sinemacılara mentorluk yapmıştı. İyi yazarları fark etme konusundaki yeteneği ve cömert kişiliğiyle tanınmıştı.

Hubbard, hayatının büyük bölümünü Beverly Hills’te aynı evde geçirmişti. Hevesli bir polo oyuncusu olduğu bilinmekteydi ve sık sık Hillcrest Road’daki mülkünün arkasındaki ahırlardan at sürerek Palisades’te bulunan Will Rogers’ın evine giderdi.
